Tassel Tails for Big Balloons - DIY Intructions
I love the impact that our 3ft Big Balloons make, add a tassel tail and they become a real statement piece and provide a touch of theater to any occasion. With a half an hour to spare and a few sheets of tissue paper you can make one of these for a matter of pence (and something that is hand made is just that little bit extra special).
You will need:
Sheets of Tissue Paper 50x75cm (1 sheet for each tassel, I used 5 tassels)
A sharp pair of scissors
2 meter length of lace trim
other oddments of lace or lightweight ribbon
Fold your sheet of tissue paper in half legthways and then in half widthways
Carefully cut from the bottom edge of your paper up to an inch from the lengthway fold. Make each fringe about 1/2" wide
Continue along the whole of the folded sheet
unfold the widthway fold and give the fringe a gentle shake to unstick the fringing.
Starting at one end of top uncut section of the paper, gentle roll the paper together
Tie tightly with a piece of lightweight ribbon
With one end of the ribbon you used to tie the paper together with, wrap it around the end of your tassel and tie securely
You have a finished tassel, now make some more!
Lay the length of pretty lace out straight across the floor or table. Tie each tassel to the length of lace approx. 15cm apart from each other. Add any other pretty pieces of ribbon or lace as you wish.
You can now tie the finished tassel to your inflated balloon
