Our Eco-Friendly Journey

Better choices, less waste and plenty of brilliant ways to party.

We love a good party, but we don't think celebrating should mean creating mountains of unnecessary waste.

Over the years we've been steadily changing the products we sell, looking for better materials, reusable alternatives and clever party pieces that can be brought out again and again. We're not perfect, and we're not going to pretend every party product is planet-friendly, but we're always looking for better ways to celebrate.

Better Party Tableware

We’ve made a big move towards better choices for the party table. Look out for FSC-certified paper plates and napkins, recyclable and biodegradable options, wooden cutlery and reusable pieces that can come out for more than one celebration.

We’re always on the lookout for brilliant new alternatives that are kinder to the planet, without losing the colour, fun and fabulous design that makes a party feel special.

Eco Tableware

Less Single Use Plastic

Where there’s a good alternative to single-use plastic, we want to offer it. Over the years we’ve introduced more paper, card, wood and reusable party products, and we’re always looking for better options as they become available.

Behind the scenes, we keep waste and unnecessary packaging to a minimum too. All of our latex balloons are packed in biodegradable packaging, and we reuse and recycle packaging wherever we can.

There’s still more we can do, but every better swap and every little reduction in waste is a step in the right direction.

 Decorations To Use Again

One party doesn't have to mean one use. We love decorations that can be packed away and brought out again, from paper stars, honeycombs and garlands to fabric decorations, giant bows and reusable standing balloons.

Choose pieces you really love, look after them and they can become part of your celebrations for years to come. Better for the planet, and much more fun than buying everything again.

Eco Decorations

Thoughtfully Chosen

We’re a small independent business, which means we get to be picky about what makes it into the shop. We look for party pieces that are well designed, good quality and worth buying, with better materials and reusable options wherever we can find them.

We don’t believe being more environmentally conscious should mean beige and boring. We still want colour, brilliant design and decorations that make you smile, just chosen with a little more thought about what happens after the party.

 Party Better: Your Questions Answered

Are your party supplies eco-friendly?

Not everything we sell is eco-friendly, and we think it’s important to be honest about that. What we are doing is continually increasing the number of more sustainable products we stock, while reducing less eco-friendly options wherever good alternatives are available.

We try to include the eco credentials of individual products in their descriptions, so you can make an informed choice. Look out for FSC-certified paper products, recyclable and biodegradable options, decorations designed to be reused and good-quality party pieces that can be packed away and enjoyed again.

Where a traditional party product isn’t particularly planet-friendly, we’ll also try to offer a better alternative. Our aim is simple: more thoughtful choices, less unnecessary waste and plenty of brilliant ways to celebrate.

Are latex balloons biodegradable?

Our latex balloons are made from natural latex, which comes from rubber trees. We carefully source good-quality latex balloons without the plastic fillers that can be found in some lower-quality alternatives.

However, biodegradable doesn’t mean harmless if a balloon ends up in the environment. We never support balloon releases and always ask our customers to keep hold of their balloons and dispose of them responsibly after the party.

We also package all of our latex balloons in biodegradable packaging as part of our ongoing effort to reduce unnecessary plastic and waste.

Are your cups, plates and napkins recyclable?

It depends on the product. Where our paper plates and napkins are certified biodegradable or compostable, we’ll clearly say so in the product description, along with any other environmental credentials supplied by the manufacturer.

Recycling can be a little more complicated. Some paper partyware has coatings, metallic finishes or other decorative details that may mean it can’t be recycled with ordinary paper. Used plates and napkins can also be unsuitable for recycling once they’re covered in food or grease.

We try to make the information as clear as possible on each product, so check the individual description for the best way to dispose of it. We’re also continually looking for better alternatives, including FSC-certified paper products and tableware designed with less plastic and more planet-friendly materials.

How do you reduce packaging and waste?

We keep our packaging pretty no frills. Wherever possible, we use the minimum amount needed to make sure your party goodies arrive safely, without adding unnecessary layers just for the sake of it.

Behind the scenes, we hate waste too. We reuse packaging materials wherever we can and recycle everything else that can be recycled. Our latex balloons are also packed in biodegradable packaging rather than conventional plastic.

We encourage our suppliers to think about packaging too, asking them to reduce unnecessary materials and pack deliveries appropriately rather than over-packaging products on their way to us.

It’s lots of small, sensible choices throughout the journey that help us keep waste to a minimum while still making sure your order reaches you safely and ready for the party.

How can I make my party more eco friendly?

A more eco-friendly party doesn’t have to mean a boring one. A few thoughtful choices can make a big difference.

Think about starting a party box, just like your box of Christmas decorations. Fill it with favourite reusable decorations, garlands, paper stars, cake stands, candles, serving pieces and other party essentials, then bring them out celebration after celebration. Add a few new pieces each time and before long you’ll have your own brilliant little collection.

When decorating, try creating one really impactful party area rather than filling the entire room. A fabulous backdrop, balloon display or decorated party table can completely transform a space, while using far fewer decorations.

Think about how you serve food too. Not everything needs its own individual plate, cup or container. Sharing platters, grazing tables, cake stands and large serving bowls can work brilliantly, particularly for bigger gatherings. Where disposable tableware makes more sense, choose the best option for the type of food you’re serving and look for compostable, biodegradable or FSC-certified products where available.

Most importantly, think beyond one celebration. Choose decorations and party pieces you genuinely love, store them carefully and use them again for birthdays, Christmas, New Year, family get-togethers and whatever else is worth celebrating.

A great party isn’t about using more stuff. It’s about using the right stuff to create a little bit of magic.
