Autumn Celebration Ideas
As the leaves turn golden and the air gets crisp, autumn is the perfect excuse to gather friends and family for celebrations big and small. Whether you’re on the sidelines at a rugby match, carving pumpkins with the neighbours, or hosting a bonfire birthday bash, there are endless ways to make the season magical. Here are some of our favourite autumnal ideas to inspire your get-togethers.
Tailgate Team Party
Kids are back in school and its football and rugby season again, which means Saturday and Sunday mornings are often spent shivering on the sidelines (for me at least). Why not turn it into a celebration? Organise an American style tailgate party before, during, or after the match. Kids will love the excitement, parents can socialise, and everyone stays warm with hot chocolate, bacon rolls, or a big flask of soup.
Bring along blankets, folding chairs, and a pop-up table dressed with a stack of disposable seasonal plates and cups to make it feel like a real party - even if it’s just in the car park!
Group Walk or Hike
Autumn is the most beautiful time to get outdoors and enjoy the fall colours. Gather friends and family for a guided walk or hike and let the kids lead the way. When you finish the loop, celebrate in the car park with an impromptu picnic; think flasks of spiced cider, sausage rolls, or slices of pumpkin pie waiting in the boot.
Pack your snacks in style with our eco-friendly napkins and disposable tableware - no washing up required!
Pumpkin Carving Party
Nothing says autumn like pumpkins! Buy a wheelbarrow-load and invite over friends and neighbours for a pumpkin carving party. Set up a long table (outside if possible) with carving tools, tea lights, and plenty of pumpkins in different shapes and sizes. Pre-print carving templates for inspiration and encourage creativity. Don’t forget to save the seeds; roasted with spices, they make a perfect seasonal snack.
Add to the atmosphere with pumpkin garlands, autumn candles, and cosy decorations to transform your garden or kitchen into a fall wonderland.
Autumn Movie Night
Host a cosy movie night and invite guests to snuggle up with blankets, cushions, and mugs of hot chocolate. Choose a magical autumn film like Harry Potter, The Twilight Saga, Practical Magic, or a romcom classic like When Harry Met Sally.
Set the scene with popcorn sharing boxes filled with chocolate popcorn, spiced cookies, or sweets.
Autumn Wreath-Making
Every door looks more welcoming with a handmade autumn wreath. Host a creative evening with friends: supply wreath rings and pre-foraged foliage, then encourage guests to bring extras like ribbons, pinecones, or faux pumpkins.
Serve warm cider or caramel lattes in our seasonal to-go cups, and finish with pumpkin pie by candlelight for a truly festive workshop.
Birthday Bonfire
Autumn birthdays are made for bonfires! Light a firepit or bonfire and celebrate under the stars. Serve hotdogs roasted on sticks, a bubbling pot of chilli, and of course, s’mores; gooey marshmallows sandwiched with chocolate and biscuits.
Add magic with sparkler party favours and rustic tableware to keep everything festive (and practical).
Oktoberfest at Home
Celebrate like the Bavarians! Invite friends to your very own Biergarten, complete with tankards, bunting, and long shared tables. Serve bratwurst, schnitzel, sauerkraut, and apple strudel alongside steins of beer.
Decorate your table with rustic plates and gingham napkins for that Oktoberfest feel… no lederhosen required (but highly encouraged).
Thanksgiving Get-Togethers
Take a leaf from our American cousins and celebrate the season of gratitude. Bring family and friends together with:
- A Gratitude Tree: Have guests write what they’re thankful for on paper leaves to hang on a decorative branch.
- Potluck Dinner: Everyone brings a dish made with seasonal produce, served on our autumnal paper plates.
- Pumpkin Pie Bake-Off: Challenge guests to bring their best pie for a taste test.
- Autumn Centerpiece Workshop: Provide flowers, gourds, candles, and a table dressed with fall-themed tableware.
- Turkey Trot: Host a pre-feast fun run or walk to work up an appetite!
However you celebrate this autumn, the key is to gather, connect, and enjoy the small seasonal pleasures. From spiced cider to sparklers, pumpkins to pies, there’s magic in every moment, and with our Autumn & Thanksgiving Collection, you’ll have everything you need to set the scene beautifully.
