A few well-chosen extras can completely change a Christmas table. Start with a table runner, then add decorations down the centre of the table and something fun at each place setting. You don't need everything to match perfectly – picking a couple of colours and repeating them across the table is usually enough to pull the whole look together.

This is where Christmas dinner can get a bit more fun. Add a party hat, place card, little gift or table favour to each setting, then pop a few party poppers or throwing streamers on the table for later. They're small details, but they're often the things everyone ends up playing with.
